Pono Player – A High Quality Music Player at CES 2015

The era of the Mp3 player is over. Pono Player is a music player that plays high quality 24-bit/192kHz audio files. It made its debut at CES 2015, after it gained a lot of appreciation on Kickstarter.

Pono Player is a music player that looks like a Toblerone Chocolate bar. However, it is bigger, and it was made by Neil Young. Though it looks vintage, this music player indeed has a lot of potential. With two audio jacks, a touch screen, and also a dedicated web store, the Pono Player is definitely one of the next generation music players.

It is also reported that Pono Player is planning to tie up with Harman, a renowned audio equipment manufacturer, to bring its product into vehicles and other places where Harman equipment is used.  With a total storage capacity of 128 GB (64 GB internal memory and 64 GB expandable memory using a MicroSD slot), the Pono Player has too little to ask for.

Also, it seems there are two external 3.5mm audio jacks, which could help two people to listen to the same music output or two devices to play the output respectively. But, the Pono Player will be sold only in 80 locations and a handful of Fry’s stores in the USA. It is expected to retail at $399. People who supported the Pono Player in its initial stages will get their special limited edition product, exclusively signed by their favourite artists, including Neil Young. This limited edition Pono Player will be available in silver while the normal ones are expected to retail in yellow and black colors. Visit our CES 2015 landing page for more!
