Just as we wrote about the Lumia Denim Update and the Windows 10 Mobile Technical Preview, we never expected to write another article about Microsoft, but undeniably, the tech giant has stolen the stage today.
The news is that Microsoft has come up with a new keyboard that is compatible with almost any mobile device. Yes, even for Android and iOS. As surprising as that might sound, it is named as the Microsoft Universal Foldable Keyboard. This keyboard was initially spoken about in September 2014, it has definitely gone places after that. However, the ‘foldable’ feature was not highlighted then.
The Microsoft Universal Foldable Keyboard lives up to every word of its name. Well, firstly, it is from Microsoft. There are many Microsoft hardware fans already, and it’s true that their hardware is worth the price. Being universal, it can connect to any device wirelessly, and it can also connect to multiple devices with the touch of a button, not at a time though. That would be a mess, indeed.
You can connect the Microsoft Universal Foldable Keyboard to only one device at a time, but you can switch to other devices with just a single touch. It is foldable like a book and becomes like a tablet. There is one thing that we love about the Microsoft Universal Foldable Keyboard. It is as big as a normal keyboard and as portable as a tablet keyboard. The only disadvantage is that it does not have an attached stand for your wireless device, but that should not be a deal breaker. Most tablets have pouches that come with stands and most of these owners have one.
The Microsoft Universal Foldable Keyboard comes with a rechargeable battery that will last for 3 months on a single charge. It can be recharged through the Micro USB port available.
The Microsoft Universal Foldable Keyboard will retail at $99.95 (INR 6000) and it is quite pricy. But given that it is portable and functional, it should not be a problem. You should be able to see a Microsoft Universal Foldable Keyboard in stores this July. However, this is for the USA, and there are no details whether it will be released internationally.
