Meizu has been a long awaited brand in India, both by the developer community and smartphone enthusiasts. It seems that the voice of the consumers in India has finally reached the ears of the Chinese smartphone manufacturer, which is evident from its recent announcement to launch its first device in India, the Meizu M1. Meizu had been planning to enter India for some time now and had started promoting the same over social media since February.
Meizu has been a prominent player in China and in the rest of the world by ensuring that smartphones with excellent hardware can still be sold at a bargain. Meizu publicized that it will be launching its Meizu M1 in India sometime in April.
The Meizu M1 is an excellent choice by Meizu to debut in a nation like India, where value-for-money is one of the main driving factors for the sale of any consumer product.
The Meizu M1 offers a very good balance between functionality and cost. It sports a 5 inch display with an unusual resolution of 1280 x 768 which gives it a healthy pixel density of 300 ppi which is still in the retina grade territory for the display technology. The device is powered by the LTE equipped Mediatek MT6732 SoC which has four Cortex- A53 cores clocked in at 1.5 GHz. The Meizu M1 comes with 1 GB of RAM, although a 2 GB variant might be in the pipeline to ensure that it is adequately equipped to go head on with the Xiaomi Redmi 2. The rear camera is a 13 MP unit while the front one is a 5 MP unit to satisfy the needs of both the casual shooter, as well as the selfie enthusiast. All of these features will be available for as low as INR 7,000 (approximately $110) which is a sweet deal, if you consider the fact that this is a 4G LTE equipped device.
The only other devices which can compete with the Meizu M1 are the Moto E (2015), Lenovo A6000, Xiaomi Redmi 2 and the Huawei Holly.
