As funny as the name sounds (unless you know Italian), this is the most absurd car that Ferrari has ever made. The most fitting description for the Ferrari Testa D’Oro Colani will be “A Spaceship on Four wheels”. If you did not know, Ferrari is working on a spaceship as well.
The reason for us featuring the Ferrari Testa D’Oro Colani on the Automobile of the Week Section this time is because of the fact that it is a unique car. And by ‘unique’, we mean strangely unique. The weird car was designed by Luigi Colani, and it is believed that the weird design was implemented for the car’s aerodynamic advantage. Colani wanted to built a car that could make a record at the Bonneville Salt Flats.
This car was made in 1991, and that could be one of the reasons why it looks weird to us. With more than 750 hp, the Ferrari Testa D’Oro Colani hit a speed record of 218 mph at the Salt Flats. That was in 1994, and it was a really amazing speed for people back then.
The Ferrari Testa D’Oro Colani is an evolution of the 1985 Ferrari Testarossa, which is also a pretty fast car made by the Italian manufacturer. It was built on the basis of the Testrarossa, but the engine was modified, and the body was made aerodynamic.
News is that the Ferrari Testa D’Oro Colani is on sale for $ 1.7 million. There is not much information about this car, since it is quite old, and we did not have many websites those days. However, the Ferrari Testa D’Oro Colani is a one-of-a-kind-car for a weird owner.
