The Honda BR-V could be the next contestant in India for the Compact SUV segment. This India bound mini SUV (Pseudo SVU) will have seven seats and will be offered with both diesel and petrol engine options. Honda released sketches of its upcoming SUV, christened as the BR-V.
The new Honda BR-V will be based on the Brio platform on which the Amaze sedan and the Mobilio MPV were manufactured. The compact SUV will make its debut at the Gaikindo Indonesian International Auto Show 2015 which will be held in late August in Tangerang, Indonesia.
From the sketch, it is evident that the Honda BR-V adopts an aggressive styling. The design borrows some elements from the CR-V, including the dominating twin-split chrome grille with the Honda emblem in the centre. The bumper has been aggressively styled with creases, skid plates and chrome finished fog lamp housing. Likely to be based on the Brio hatchback, it will stand tall with a high ground clearance. The aggressive presence is further increased by the large alloy wheels and high roof rails.
The flared wheel arches with body cladding also add more muscle to the overall design. The rear design of the car is simpler with a petite tail lamp, sculpted bumper and skid plates. The large alloy wheels compliment the overall brute design and the Honda BR-V has all the design cues to impress Indian buyers.
BR-V stands for Bold Runabout Vehicle and will be developed by Honda R&D Asia Pacific Co. Ltd. (HRAP) in Thailand for the Asian markets. It is the third model to be developed by HRAP.
