Oppo launches yet another device in the United States dubbed as the Oppo R7 Plus. Oppo has opened up pre-orders for this device in the United States, which can be placed directly through the company’s website. The Chinese tech giant is known for its premium devices which are a stand out compared to the inexpensive high-end devices floating around in the Chinese market.
Priced at around $499, the Oppo R7 Plus isn’t exactly cheap and faces heavy competition among devices with similar specifications, both below and above the aforementioned price tag.
The Oppo R7 Plus comfortably makes it into the phablet category with a massive 6-inch display which maxes out at a resolution of 1920×1080. At the heart of the R7 Plus is a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 built with eight Cortex-A53 cores. It has 3GB of RAM and a massive 4,100 mAh battery to power to keep the device running for an entire day even with power-intensive tasks.
The rear camera is a conventional 13 MP unit while the front camera is a generous 8 MP module. The Oppo R7 Plus will feature home brewed ColorOS 2.1 running on top of Android 5.1.
The Oppo R7 Plus will not support the LTE bands of the US, which might be a deal breaker for some. The device will be available in a gold colour scheme and Oppo also packs in a Bluetooth headset as a part of the pre-order package. There is also a promo code that slashes off 10% from the original price of the Oppo R7 Plus, but even then, the device appears overly expensive.
Oppo’s pricing looks a little ambitious with devices like the Nexus 6 already available for the same price range. With the absence of basic features like the LTE connectivity, it doesn’t really make sense to opt for the Oppo R7 Plus unless you really want one.
