It is indeed sad news to hear that Jon Olsson’s Audi RS 6 Avant DTM (older one) was stolen by a bunch of armed robbers at a gas station and burnt down. The whole automobile community is mourning the loss, including us. However, Olsson made another version of the RS 6 a few months back, and we decided to make this as a tribute for the lost car.
Jon Olsson’s Audi RS 6 Avant DTM is featured on the Automobile of the Week Section this time. Generally, the ‘RS’ series in Audi spells ‘performance’. The RS 4 coupe is for those who want a professional looking car which also packs some power on the inside. For those petrol heads who have a family, Audi made the RS 6 – a station wagon with some serious performance.
A stock Audi RS 6 carries 552 hp under the hood, making it one of the best performing station wagons in the world by default. But Jon Olsson converted that into an even better performing wagon. He made the 1000 hp RS Avant DTM.
A first look at Jon Olsson’s Audi RS 6 Avant DTM would leave any car fanatic wide-mouthed. The visual upgrades include a lower suspension with special body kits that are inspired by the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM) championship. The kit includes carbon fibers and the entire color combination is done in shades of grey, black and red, which makes it look stunning.
The main purpose of this project was to make the car drivable even in extreme weather conditions. Hence, the body kits do not only serve as mere visual upgrades, but they add to the performance. There is also a special carbon fiber roof box built by 56 Nord to store Olssen’s skies (since he is also a skier).
Jon Olsson’s Audi RS 6 Avant DTM is the best in its own class. Olsson worked with a former Koenigsegg engineer to finish up the job, which was to boost the stock engine’s power to a 1000 hp. For this, they made several modifications to the engine and also added a pair of 18 karat gold anodized turbochargers.
A straight pipe race exhaust system by Milltek Sport was also installed in the car. If the beefed up RS 6 runs on normal petrol, it will deliver 950 hp, but the extra 50 hp will come only when it is filled with high octane petrol.
Jon Olsson’s Audi RS 6 Avant DTM is so powerful that it can send the car rocketing to about 100 kmph in just 3.9 seconds. This is faster than the Porsche 911 Carerra GTS itself.
While the Audi RS 6 is a beast by default, Jon Olsson made it a monster. Farewell to the old RS6 DTM, but we hope the new one is kept safe.
