Lenovo revealed its latest series of convertible laptops and portable desktops yesterday. The Lenovo Yoga 900, Home 900 and Home 500 models will help the company to take mobile computing to a whole new level.
Lenovo Yoga 900
The Lenovo Yoga 900 is an upgrade to Yoga Pro 3 and the Yoga Home 900 is an AIO (Lenovo calls it a portable PC). The Yoga 900, as it’s now called as the world’s thinnest convertible laptop, measures in at 14.9mm thin, weighing just 1.29g.
The Lenovo Yoga 900 is power packed with Intel’s Skylake series Core i5 or Core i7 optional processors compared to slower Core M processors which were found in Yoga Pro 3. The hinges are also improved and the look stronger.
For optimum performance, the Lenovo Yoga 900 comes with 13.3-inch 3K display and 8GB of RAM. The Core i5 version comes with 256GB SSD and I7 version with 512 GB SSD and optional dedicated Nvidia GeForce 940 graphics. Also, users have the option to upgrade the RAM to 16 GB when you buy from the official website.
The laptop houses a 66Wh battery which is expected to give 9 hours of solid video playback. For connectivity, the laptop has 2x USB 3.0, USB Type-C, headphone jack and SD card reader.
The Lenovo Yoga 900 will be available in orange, silver and champagne gold in the second half of October, starting at $1,200(78,000 INR) and going up to $1400 (91,000 INR) for higher versions.
Yoga Home 900
It is the first desktop in Yoga lineup. It features a 27-inch FullHD display and powered by Intel 5th generation processors and Nvidia GeForce 940A (2GB) graphics. The base model comes with Intel Core i5-5200U processor, 8GB of DDR3L RAM and 256GB of SSD storage. For connectivity, it has 3x USB 3.0, HDMI port and dual 2.5W speakers.
In a press meet Mr. Bhatia, Lenovo’s VP of Marketing, said, “The Yoga Home is a big computer that you can actually move around your house and get the whole family around. It’s a home entertainment device. You’re not going to move it all the time, but we envision this as a computer that brings people together.”
The Yoga Home 900 comes with Windows 10 Preloaded combined with AURA 3.0 interface. The device is expected to have 3hrs of battery life. As for the price, the basic version starts at $1549 (1,01,000 INR).
Yoga Home 500
The Yoga Home is high-performance, affordable convertible laptop featuring Intel Core i Processors. The price and detailed specifications are yet to be known, but it may have Windows 10, Stereo Speakers With Dolby Home Theater and a 2xUSB 3.0, 1xUSB 2.0, 4-in-1 card reader, Audio combo jack, HDMI, RJ-45 ports.
The company claims it to be ultra-thin and light, specifying it to be mere 5.0 lbs and just 0.87″ thin. It may have an 8-hour battery backup. In other words, the Yoga Home series is just a bunch of huge Windows Tablets.
