Apple Inc. has updated its official Indian page listing the Apple Watch after 6 months of global launch. The price of the watch is not yet mentioned, but from dollar conversion the approximate price tag may be from Rs 23,000 for basic models to up to 11 lakhs for premium models.
The watch may come in three variants namely Apple Watch, Apple Watch Edition and Apple Watch Sport. Apple Watch and Apple Watch Edition would come with sapphire crystal to protect the screen from cracking, whereas the sports version would have a strengthened Ion-X glass on the display. Also, Apple Watch Edition may feature cases made from custom rose or yellow 18-carat gold alloys developed to be twice as hard as standard gold.
Users may have an option of three different leather straps, a stainless steel link bracelet and Milanese loop, and a black or white Sport Band to select from. With Watch OS2 update, Apple has brought many features such as activation lock, more support for native apps, and improved functions for Siri. Due to software conflicts, other popular brands such as Pebble and Android Wear has less support for Apple users compared to Apple Watch.
The Apple Watch comes in two sizes, 1.5 inches and 1.7 inches and is spread across 38 individual models. The watch does not house a camera, but users can access the phone camera with the watch. The watch is expected to give an 18 hour run time with a single charge.
For iPhone users, the Apple Watch would be a perfect fit. The basic version itself would suit Indian customers daily needs. The Premium ranges would be far from reach for average users. From the price point of view, Apple must relax the price tags in order to attract the majority of youngsters and working professionals from India.
