The World’s First Floating Smartphone

This might not be a feature that most smartphone buyers would look for, but Comet is the world’s first floating smartphone. Introduced on Indiegogo, this smartphone can not only float, but it comes with other features like voice encryption and mood recognizer.

Being the world’s first floating smartphone, Comet is declared IPx7 water resistant. This is an ultimate level of water resistance and it would be a benchmark for any other manufacturer who wants to make a waterproof smartphone.

However, the specialty of Comet is that it can float, and this is something that no smartphone is capable of, at least at the time of publishing this article. Even if they are water resistant, most of them would sink if dropped in water. Comet’s creator says that the smartphone can be taken even for swims in the beach, and it can still work fine.

The world’s first floating smartphone will come with a Snapdragon 810 chipset coupled to a 2GHz octa-core processor. There will be 64 GB of internal memory, 4GB of RAM, and a 4.7-inch AMOLED display. The UI is stock Android as in Motorola and Nexus phones. Comet will not have any custom UI in order to attain optimum performance.

The smartphone is estimated to ship in April 2016, and there are a few deals available on the Indiegogo website, in case you are interested.
