With the introduction of Windows 10 to the Lumia 950 and 950 XL phones, Microsoft has now come up with a budget phone. The Microsoft Lumia 550 is priced at Rs 9,399 and comes with Windows 10 preloaded.
The Microsoft Lumia 550 has a 4.7-inch HD 315 ppi display, 1 GB of RAM and 8GB of internal space. It is powered by a 1.1GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 processor and an Adreno 304 GPU. It comes with a 5MP f/2.4 rear camera with HD recording option. For selfies, it has a 2MP f/2.8 camera at front.
The phone supports 4G and other connectivity options include Bluetooth 4.1, USB 2.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n. The battery is removable with a limited capacity of 2100 mAh, but the company claims that it can last for 28 days on standby and 14 Hours on 3G talk time.
The dimensions of the phone are 136.1×67.8×9.9mm making it handy. Sensors included are an ambient light sensor, accelerometer, and proximity sensor. Few noticeable drawbacks in the Microsoft Lumia 550 are it does not support the Windows 10 Continuum feature which allows a smartphone to act like computers with a desktop-style interface.
Also, the phone does not have a USB Type-C interface. Instead, it comes with Micro-USB port. Other features included in the phone are Microsoft Edge browser, new Outlook mail, OneDrive, Microsoft Office, Cortana, and Glance Screen.
The phone will be released in India on December 23rd and will come in two variants – glossy white and matte black.
