Last month we reported on a rumour of Red Dead Redemption 2, along with the original Red Dead Redemption remake. Well, it looks like the rumour is real. The rumor now seems closer to becoming a reality, with what is supposedly the map for the sequel leaking online on NeoGAF. Since a lot of rumors have been hitting the internet about the Red Dead Redemption sequel, we weren’t really concerned until an independent source has confirmed it as genuine.
Since a lot of rumors have been hitting the internet about the Red Dead Redemption sequel, we weren’t really concerned until an independent source has confirmed it as genuine. TechRadar claims that an independent source, “close to the development of the new Red Dead game” has confirmed that it is, in fact, the real thing after all.
They also confirmed that the game will be set before the events of the original game and that the new map is just east of the one that featured in Red Dead Redemption. You can look at the map from the original game and the leaked map below. We have also made an overlay image of the two maps so you can see how the two of them come together.
Although you weren’t able to swim in Red Dead Redemption, the map makes us wonder if it’s a feature that Rockstar has added to the next game. If you look at the bottom left, you’ll see the Great Plains, home to the Blackwater settlement that sits at the top right of the Red Dead Redemption map.
Being a big fan of the Red Dead series, I would absolutely love to see another addition to the series. If all this rumour turns out to be true, then we might be looking at an announcement from Rockstar or 2K soon. Maybe at E3 2016, hopefully.
