E3 2016 Day 2: Round-Up of Events

2. Ubisoft Press Conference

2016 marks Ubisoft’s 30th year in the gaming industry, But their E3 Press Conference was a bitter disappointment. A group of dancers performed at the start to promote the Just Dance 17 followed by gameplay demos and trailers.

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands

Ubisoft ended their last year’s E3 Press Conference in style, by revealing Ghost Recon Wildlands. A massive open world that support 4 player Co-Op campaign mode to take down drug lands of Bolivia. An in-engine trailer was shown followed by a 9 minute gameplay demo. The game promises to be huge and fun to play with friends. An impressive gameplay demo , followed by which they revealed the release date for the game. The game is scheduled to release for PS4, Xbox One and PC on March 7, 2017.

South Park: The Fractured but Whole

An Indie game which mainly focuses on sarcastic storytelling. An ambitious indie title, which deserves a try, when it comes out. Two gameplay clips showed how you take on the role as the new kid in South Park, hoping to join Cartman’s super-hero group. Ubisoft’s second South Park game, suffixed The Fractured But Whole, is set for release on Xbox One, PS4, and PC on December 6.

VR games

Star Trek: Bridge Crew VR and Eagle Flight are designed specifically for VR. Star Trek:Bridge Crew is supposed to be coming later this year to all major virtual reality platforms, but you can see it below played with an Oculus Rift, using Touch motion controllers. Behind the controls, you’ll also find a few familiar faces: The Next Generation’s LeVar Burton, Voyager’s Jeri Ryan, and the Star Trek reboot’s Karl Urban.

For Honor

For Honor was revealed last year which showcased a Ryse: Son of Rome like gameplay and setting. Not much details were given in this year’s conference too, but a gameplay demo was shown which focused mainly on the combat system. It looks like players will have all sorts of options, depending on the faction they are playing. As a viking, for example, you can be a “raider.” In this specific instance, the raider uses an axe to savage his enemies. Though the battles are large-scale and happen all around you, you can focus on specific enemies for one-on-one melee combat. Once focused, you can change between stances and fighting styles all of which seem pretty intense.

Watch Dogs 2

The worst kept secret was confirmed by Ubisoft to be in development ever since the launch of the first Watch Dogs. A new gameplay demo was shown which focused on new hacking mechanics and non-lethal gameplay. Watch Dogs 2 will hit the store November 15 for PS4, Xbox One and PC. Hopefully, no downgrade this time.

Ubisoft announced a new IP, Steep. It’s an open world mountain sports game about skiing, snowboarding, wing suiting, paragliding, and probably falling down a lot. Steep has been in development for at least 2.5 years. Leading development on the game is Ubisoft Annecy, a French studio that most recently collaborated on The Division. Steep will be out this December on Xbox One, PS4, and PC. A promising sports game for all the sports fans out there.
