Nexa, the exclusive showroom for Maruti’s premium cars, opened bookings for the Maruti Ignis yesterday. The Ignis is the company’s first Urban SUV, and it resembles the compact design adopted for cars like the WagonR.
Bookings Start at 11,000 INR
One can book a Maruti Ignis by paying 11,000 INR online or directly at Nexa stores. The e-booking option is available here. The price of the Maruti Ignis is expected to be around 5 to 7 Lakhs. If this happens to be the real price of the car, it would sell well, displaying a threat to Maruti’s competitors. The compact SUV segment has been hot in India, especially in 2016.
Same Engine, Different Design
The Maruti Ignis will have the same engines as the Baleno, both for petrol and diesel variants. However, the engine is fitted into a compact SUV design. According to the specifications posted by Maruti, the Baleno engine will seem to hold well for the Ignis.
The economy for the petrol version of the Maruti Ignis is 20kmpl and that for the diesel version would be around 26 kmpl, according to Maruti. It comes with 5-speed manual and automatic transmissions.
As we can learn from the website, the car is expected to be launched in a concert.
